In the evolving political landscape of Ogun Central Senatorial District, one name is steadily capturing public attention—Emmanuel Adebola Sofela. (SHOFI) With a career that bridges high-level finance, corporate leadership, and public administration, Sofela is positioning himself as a candidate defined not just by ambition, but by experience, discipline, and strategic vision.

Covering key local government areas such as Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo, and Ewekoro, the district has long demanded representation rooted in accessibility, integrity, and effective grassroots communication. Supporters argue that Sofela embodies these qualities, pointing to both his professional pedigree and his track record in governance.

Sofela first stepped into the political spotlight during the 2023 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a move that demonstrated party loyalty and strategic restraint, he stepped down in favor of Shuaibu Salisu, citing party supremacy. Now, he returns with renewed focus, determined to translate his long-standing blueprints into tangible representation for Ogun Central.

Born into a culture that values education and diligence, Sofela’s academic journey began at the University of Ilorin, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He later obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Lagos, equipping him with the analytical and managerial expertise that would define his career. His pursuit of excellence also took him to globally renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, and INSEAD.

A Fellow of several prestigious professional bodies—including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers—Sofela’s credentials reflect both depth and versatility.

With over three decades of post-graduate experience, Sofela has built a career spanning banking, telecommunications, and public service. Rising to the position of Divisional Director in the banking sector, he developed expertise in treasury operations, corporate finance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. His work fostered strong relationships with government institutions, where he played roles in financing development projects and improving revenue systems.

He later transitioned into the telecommunications industry, serving in top executive roles, including Group Treasurer and Chief Operating Officer. His leadership extended into entrepreneurship as Managing Director/CEO of Bridge Capital and Investments Limited, where he supported small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) with tailored financial solutions—an experience that brought him closer to the economic realities of grassroots businesses.

In public service, Sofela further demonstrated his administrative capability as Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority, where he implemented reforms that boosted revenue and modernized operations. His introduction of new plate designs aligned with emerging technologies such as automatic number plate recognition systems.

Currently serving as the Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment in Ogun State, Sofela continues to play a central role in shaping economic policies and attracting investment to the state. His tenure has been marked by efforts to strengthen industrial growth and improve the business environment.

Endorsements from key figures in All Progressives Congress APC have also bolstered his profile. During a notable occasion, Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, described Sofela as “a man of integrity, purposefully loaded, educated and dedicated to public service,” reinforcing public perception of his competence and character.

As Ogun Central looks ahead to its political future, the conversation increasingly centers on leadership that combines technical expertise with genuine community engagement. For many observers, Emmanuel Adebola Sofela represents that blend—a candidate whose career achievements and public service record may well define the next chapter of representation in the district.
