ABEOKUTA — The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, has appointed distinguished chief and statesman, Alhaji (Hon.) Farouk Adeniyi Akintunde, alongside six other high-profile chiefs, to serve on the Regency Council of Egbaland.

The appointment was officially conveyed in an executive letter addressed to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, dated August 26, 2026 (Ref. No: ALAKE/LEAVEM/.048/vol.1/36), formally notifying the state government of the monarch’s intention to proceed on his annual vacation.

To ensure seamless administrative continuity and maintain traditional governance across the kingdom during his absence, the revered paramount ruler selected a seven-member council of high-ranking chiefs renowned for their integrity, administrative competence, and dedication to the progress of Egbaland.

Among the prominent appointees is Hon. Chief Farouk Adeniyi Akintunde (FHNR, FCSS, FCAI), the Seriki of Ijeun Township. Palace sources confirm that Chief Akintunde’s inclusion in the council is a direct testament to his exemplary leadership, commitment to socio-economic development, and profound mastery of Egba history and traditional heritage, which he has consistently demonstrated across various local and national platforms.
