I Seek No War, Only Justice, Says Accord Chairman Imumolen

National Chairman of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, has appealed to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to restrain his associates, supporters and political followers from acts capable of threatening his safety or that of his family.

Imumolen, in a statement issued amid what he described as growing concerns over his personal security, said he was making the appeal in the interest of peace and to prevent political disagreements from escalating into intimidation, harassment or violence.

He stressed that he had no intention of engaging in any confrontation with Adeleke or his supporters, noting that his political activities in Osun State were driven by his commitment to the development of the Accord Party and the promotion of democratic values.

“I seek no confrontation with Governor Adeleke or anyone else,” he said.

Imumolen also clarified that he was not an indigene of Osun State, but said his interest in the state was principally connected with protecting the political interests of the Accord Party and advancing democratic principles.

According to him, his political views and interventions should not be construed as a personal declaration of war against anyone.

He said every Nigerian had the constitutional right to express political opinions and participate in democratic activities without fear of intimidation or harassment.

The Accord chairman further stated that he had not authorised anyone to engage in violence, threats or confrontation on his behalf.

“I believe political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue, democratic processes and the rule of law,” he said.

Imumolen said he was placing the statement on public record as a precautionary measure following what he described as developments and circumstances that had raised serious concerns about his safety and that of his family.

He called on security and law-enforcement agencies to conduct an immediate, transparent and independent investigation if any harm befell him, his family or anyone directly associated with him.

He, however, stressed that he was not accusing any individual of responsibility for any possible future incident.

“Rather, I am making this appeal because I believe that no political disagreement should ever become a justification for intimidation, violence or the endangerment of human life,” he said.

Imumolen urged Adeleke, his supporters and other political actors in Osun State to embrace restraint, peace and democratic engagement.

“I seek no war. I seek only justice, fairness, peace and the freedom to pursue the development of Accord without intimidation or fear,” he added.
