Sofela Declares Ogun Central Senate Race, Vows Transformational Representation

The political landscape of Ogun Central District witnessed a significant shift on Wednesday as Emmanuel Adebola Sofela formally declared his intention to contest for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, pledging quality representation and accelerated development for the district.

Sofela made the announcement in his ward in Ofada, within Obafemi-Owode local government where he was received by a large and enthusiastic crowd comprising women groups, members of Community Development Associations (CDAs), artisans, and grassroots political leaders.

The event, marked by chants of support and visible excitement, underscored Sofela’s growing influence at the grassroots level. Many of his supporters pointed to his previous role as Commissioner in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, praising his contributions to industrial expansion and investment attraction in the state.

According to them, his tenure reflected a results-driven approach that positively impacted economic growth and job creation across Ogun State.

In his address, Sofela expressed deep appreciation for the turnout and reaffirmed his commitment to party unity, discipline, and respect for leadership. He described himself as a firm believer in integrity and merit, highlighting his academic and professional credentials as part of his preparedness for higher responsibility.

“This decision is borne out of a deep sense of duty and an unwavering passion to serve,” Sofela stated. “I am inspired to provide visionary leadership that will prioritize the welfare, progress, and collective aspirations of the good people of Ogun Central.”

He outlined a development-focused agenda anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, economic empowerment, youth development, and infrastructure renewal. Emphasizing the urgency of addressing key societal challenges, Sofela identified healthcare, education, and infrastructure as critical sectors requiring immediate and sustained intervention.

“The time is now,” he declared. “We must invest in the foundations of our society to improve the quality of life for our people and secure a better future for generations to come.”

Sofela further assured constituents of effective and people-oriented representation if supported to get the ticket, promising to amplify the voices of Ogun Central at the national level.

“I am committed to representing our people with honesty and dedication. If given the mandate, you should expect responsive leadership that truly addresses your needs and aspirations,” he added.

Political observers believe Sofela’s entry into the race could significantly alter the dynamics of the Ogun Central senatorial contest, citing his administrative experience, professional background, and strong grassroots appeal as key advantages.

As political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, stakeholders across the district are expected to closely monitor how candidates engage the electorate and articulate their visions for development.
