Ogun LG Chairman, Ogunsola Urges Stronger Security Collaboration Ahead Of General Elections

 

The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogunsola Adesina Lanre, has called on the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to intensify its efforts and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to ensure adequate protection before, during, and after the forthcoming general elections.

Ogunsola made this appeal during a courtesy visit by NSCDC officials to the council secretariat in Owode Egba. The delegation was led by the Area Commander, Adebowale Sanwoolu.

Addressing the officers, the council boss emphasized the urgency of reinforcing security structures in the local government, citing prevailing challenges within the area and its surrounding communities. He noted that the proximity of Obafemi Owode to Lagos State has resulted in a steady influx of people, thereby increasing the need for heightened vigilance.

“My first assignment as the Executive Chairman of this local government is the security of life and property of my people,” Ogunsola stated, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding residents at the grassroots level.

In his remarks, the NSCDC Area Commander, Adebowale Sanwoolu, commended the chairman for his proactive stance on security and his dedication to maintaining peace and order. He also used the opportunity to request additional operational support, including office spaces for NSCDC personnel in key locations such as Oba, Siun, Ajebo, and Magboro. According to him, these facilities would significantly enhance the corps’ effectiveness in discharging its duties.

Responding promptly, Ogunsola approved the immediate provision of office spaces in Ajebo and Oba, signaling his administration’s readiness to support security agencies in practical terms.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Head of Local Government Administration, Miss Olufunke Adeniji, as well as divisional officers from RCCG, Obafemi, Ajebo, Ofada, and Owode-Egba divisions.

The engagement underscores growing efforts by local authorities to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and ensure a secure environment as the nation prepares for another electoral cycle.
