APC Ward 16 Leaders Rally Support for Omo-Ade Ahead of 2027 Ogun Assembly Election

Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 16, Ibara-Orile, Abeokuta North, have declared their support for Hon. Yisa Ismaila Adebayo, popularly known as Omo-Ade, as he formally signaled his intention to contest the 2027 State House of Assembly election.

The show of support came on Wednesday as 23 out of the 27 ward executive members, alongside party faithful and community leaders, gathered to receive the aspirant in his electoral ward. The event marked a significant step in Omo-Ade’s grassroots mobilization strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Omo-Ade, a bonafide member of Ward 16, had earlier consulted APC leaders at the local government level, led by Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarumi, before returning to his ward to formally declare his ambition to represent Abeokuta North State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly.

He was received by key ward figures, including Hon. Fatai Balogun, who stood in for the Ward Chairman, and Hon. Lukman Adeogun, the councillor representing Ward 16, among others. The gathering reflected a strong internal endorsement of his candidacy within the ward structure.

Speaking on behalf of the ward leadership, Hon. Balogun commended Omo-Ade’s courage and described his aspiration as a collective project for the people of Ibara-Orile. He emphasized the importance of legislative representation at the grassroots level, noting that electing a representative from Ward 16 to the state assembly would enhance inclusion and ensure that local interests are adequately represented.

Balogun urged party members and residents to support the aspirant, arguing that his emergence would translate into socio-economic development for the ward and the wider constituency. According to him, supporting a grassroots politician like Omo-Ade would strengthen the community’s voice in governance and facilitate the delivery of democratic dividends.

Also speaking, Hon. Adeogun described Omo-Ade as a committed politician with a passion for development. He stressed that representation at the state assembly should prioritize the needs of the people and called on voters to critically assess candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, Omo-Ade expressed appreciation for the warm reception and endorsement from party leaders and members. He said the support from his home base was a strong indication of potential success in the upcoming election.

Highlighting his qualifications, he pointed to his educational background, political experience, and grassroots connections as key strengths. He also underscored his cultural ties, noting that he represents both Ibara and Gbagura, two of the four major political zones in Abeokuta North, which he said positions him as a unifying candidate.

“I am not new to politics, and I understand the responsibilities that come with this office,” he said. “I am committed to serving the people and ensuring that every stakeholder in our constituency benefits from effective representation.”

Omo-Ade concluded by appealing to party leaders and members to support his ambition, pledging to work for the overall development of Abeokuta North if elected.
