APC Picks Adeola as Consensus Candidate, Gains Strong Backing in Ogun — Says CCM Chairman
The political landscape in Ogun State has taken a decisive turn as Solomon Olamilekan Adeola emerges as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), drawing commendations from key stakeholders across the state.
Among those who have thrown their weight behind the development is Alhaji Taiwo Elewide, Chairman of the Central Coordinate Movement (CCM), who described the emergence as a reflection of Adeola’s credibility, political experience, and long-standing commitment to public service.
In a statement released to journalists, Elewide praised the APC’s decision, noting that it signals unity within the party and a strategic move toward sustaining progressive governance in Ogun State. He emphasized that Adeola’s track record in the National Assembly has positioned him as a capable leader ready to take on the responsibilities of governing the state.
Elewide further aligned the candidacy with the national vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that it complements ongoing efforts to promote economic growth, stability, and inclusive governance under the Renewed Hope agenda.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun, whose administration he credited with laying a solid foundation for continued development. According to him, Adeola is well-positioned to consolidate on these achievements and drive further progress.
Describing the APC flag-bearer as a forward-thinking and people-oriented leader, Elewide expressed confidence that his leadership would usher in a new phase of development across all sectors of Ogun State. He added that the emergence has energized party supporters and reinforced public confidence in the APC’s governance capacity.
As political activities begin to intensify ahead of the governorship election, observers note that Adeola’s candidacy could play a pivotal role in shaping the contest, with expectations high for a campaign centered on performance, vision, and continuity.
With growing endorsements and increasing public attention, the stage appears set for a competitive race as Ogun State prepares for another defining electoral cycle.
