2027: Sofela Extends Consultations, Woos Ifo, Abeokuta North APC Leaders for Ogun Central Senate Bid

A leading aspirant for the Ogun Central Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections, Emmanuel Adebola Sofela, has continued his grassroots consultations, meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo and Abeokuta North Local Government Areas to seek their guidance and support.

During separate engagements with party stakeholders, Sofela reiterated his commitment to inclusive representation, noting that his ambition is anchored on consultation, experience, and service to the people.

“I am here to seek your support for my ambition for Senate in Ogun Central District under your guidance,” Sofela told party leaders, emphasizing the need for unity and collective effort ahead of the 2027 polls.

At the Ifo meeting, several prominent APC figures were in attendance, including Aare Tunde Alabi, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, Hon. Adeyemi, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, Hon. Fola Fatiu Folarin, Hon. Kikelomo Delana, Hon. Dele Obadina, Elder Joju Fadairo, and Hon. Derin Adebiyi.

Sofela was accompanied by a strong delegation from Obafemi-Owode Local Government, led by the APC Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Idowu Olude. Other members of his entourage included Hon. Kayode Dipeolu, Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, Hon. Ayo Majekodunmo, Hon. Erisan, and Hon. Kuti, among other party leaders.

Speaking on behalf of Ifo stakeholders, Hon. Dele Obadina commended Sofela’s courage and described his versatility as exceptional. He stressed the need for a candidate with practical understanding of legislative responsibilities.

“Ogun Central needs someone like Sofela at the National Assembly,” Obadina said. “Legislative work goes beyond bills and motions; it involves leveraging connections to attract development and bring the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.”

In Abeokuta North, Sofela received a similarly warm reception from party leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaja Faidat Sarumi, the Vice Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Egbeyemi Taiwo, Chief Bode Mustapha, Alhaji Adesina, Wale Bello, Hon. Femi Adiro, Mayowa Adekunle, Mrs. Ogunremi, Hon. Jamiu Ojodu, Engr Taiwo Oludotun, Yemi Adelani Igwe and Dr. Ogungbemi.

Also present were Special Advisers to Governor Dapo Abiodun—Chief Gomez Ayinde and Miss Oyin Oyelese—alongside other influential stakeholders.

Leaders in Abeokuta North praised Sofela’s political maturity and loyalty to party supremacy, particularly recalling his conduct during the 2023 senatorial race when the party leadership endorsed Shuaibu Salisu.

They noted that despite not securing the party ticket, Sofela demonstrated sportsmanship by respecting the decision of the party and remaining committed to its success.

According to the leaders, such disposition sets him apart as a reliable and accessible politician. They added that many in his position might have withdrawn from the race permanently, but Sofela’s return signals resilience and dedication to public service.

In his response, Sofela expressed appreciation for the support and encouragement received, pledging to continue engaging stakeholders across the senatorial district. He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation, grassroots development, and strengthening party unity.

The consultations in Ifo and Abeokuta North mark another significant step in Sofela’s ongoing political outreach, as he consolidates support within APC structures across Ogun Central ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 senatorial contest.
